Sadly, it’s looking like the crew of the missing ARA San Juan submarine may not be found.
Sound waves of unnatural origin were registered hours after the Argentine submarine disappeared and were tracked back to the area where the missing crew had sent its last communication. The sound was described as singular, short, violent and non-nuclear that’s consistent with an explosion. While there’s no evidence the sub was attacked, the crew of 44 only had enough oxygen to survive submerged for a little more than a week if the hull remained intact. As a submariner myself, I can definitely relate to the multitude of dangers faced by those who patrol the deep.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the crew and their loved ones.
